20.10.2013 - A Day To Be Remembered

Hi guys!
It's Friday and there's finally time for me to blog again!
This entry would be about two events that had happened last Sunday on the 20th of October - and definitely had been an enjoyable and remarkable day to be remembered till forever, he-he.

So, the day officially started when I went to Tasha's house (I had to stay over at her place for convenience for the following day's Speech Day event and we ended up staying late until 2 a.m just talking about our lives and then waking up 2 hours later for Speech Day. We were totally zombiefied for the event but nonetheless, we had fun!)

Love this picture to bits!

So actually we decided to go Gurney for three reasons.
One, to buy some things required for the B.O.P.
Two, to watch Make Your Move; a dance movie starring BoA and Derek Hough. (Which I've waited since 2012 and ohhh fun fact, this movie was actually filmed in 2010. It took them 3 years to release it like really, I almost grew old waiting for it.)
And last but not least, to stalk see the four TVB Stars (Tavia, Mandy, Benjamin, Lawrence) as they're going Gurney to promote On Call 36 Hours II. I was really really psyched for this event as Tavia is my favorite TVB Actress and seeing her would mean having 1/4 of my fangirl life complete, so yeah, I had to at least catch a glimpse of her. :P

Make Your Move. I give this a 6/10.

Overall it's alright; nothing new about the plot, there isn't much of a climax nor suspense but the duet dances between the main two made up for those empty parts. I'm not much of a good reviewer but if you love BoA and/or Derek, and you like tap dancing or taiko or sappy romance then this should be good enough for you to watch. BoA was really gorgeous in this movie too and I really appreciate the effort of her English, despite not being totally fluent in it. (She's pure Korean, guys, cut her some slack!)

p/s: loved the three languages in this movie ha-ha it was utterly random at times but equally amusing as well.

Now to the main highlight of the day! Meeting the four TVB Stars!

Okay this part was actually one-sided as Tasha wasn't really interested to see them but because of me she had to endure the crowd so babe thank you for that, you're the best, really.

This event actually started at 6pm but MYM ended at around 6.45, so we had to rush to the New Wing Atrium the second the movie ended. And as predicted, there were already quite a large crowd, even up to the highest floors, many huddled around the railings to see the four of them.

See what I mean?

Yup, there they are, on the...stage. He-he.

This was taken when we went down to the ground floor
and I had to sit on Tasha's shoulder to get this picture. Ha-ha.

These two pictures combined are the best shots I took in the fanmeet. And the reason why it is this upclosed was because I snuck inside the area for "vips" illegally. I shall...not mention what I did to get my way in, aite? XD

The best part was how I got to take the poster (re: the pic above) with their signatures even though I was an illegal "vip" in that area (-inserts evil laughter-). I wasn't actually allowed up the stage to take the poster at first, but the security guard allowed me eventually so I have to owe this all to him, that kind soul.

Legit tears, I was so close to the four of them when I went on the stage.
I couldn't meet them one-to-one to get them to sign the poster though cause mine was already signed beforehand, but heck, I was so close to them, it doesn't even matter if I get to say anything to them or not because I am already contented for all these, really. :)

I was really really really happy/excited/ecstatic after that that a terrible headache started attacking me, but hey, it was all worth it. This was literally a fangirl moment, so pardon me, I was really excited okay? To think my first TVB fanmeet would be to meet my favorite actress and casts of my favorite tvb series AND to be able to get their signatures. Definitely worth it. If only Kenneth Ma was there. If he was then my TVB Fangirl moment would have been 100% complete  :(

So...that's about it for 20th October!
Hope you guys had fun reading this fangirling entry. Believe me, I am still giddy whenever I recall this moment. It feels so surreal, okay. XD

Till then,
Kimmy-

A Step To A New Beginning

I was pleasantly surprised with the news of my short story being published in the newspaper yesterday!
I read through the published one and was disappointed to find unnecessary alterations/changes made.
Don't get me wrong. I would be absolutely thrilled if it was corrected to a better sentence or whatsoever but...yeah, disappointment. There was even a typo in the published version! Utter disappointment.

Also, I know many are asking to read it but since I can't provide copies for everyone (I wished I could though! ...or maybe not since the published version isn't as good) I've decided to post the original and unedited one here! It wouldn't take much space since it's just 800 words; one of the shortest one-shot I've ever written to be honest. It was first posted in my Live Journal though, so this isn't the first time I'm openly sharing this one-shot in the internet.

P/s: this story is written in present tense and not past tense because in a way present tense can bring a different mood and feel compared to that of past tense. Because I've written many one-shots in past tense, I wanted to try something new. I wanted to also challenge myself into writing in Present as Past is definitely easier to write plus it isn't a writer's choice to convey a story through that. :)

A Step to a New Beginning
Written originally by: Kimberly Lim

Lucas has never liked the idea of wearing a tuxedo. As suave and sophisticated as it made him look, he still finds the material of the clothing fairly uncomfortable. They made his skin itch badly, and most of the time, he feels as though he is being roasted alive in that suffocating attire. No matter how much he dislikes wearing said formal attire though, he has absolutely no excuse whatsoever not to wear it on the day he starts a new chapter in his life.

He knocks on the fancy oak door twice and within seconds, he sees Victoria curiously peeking out from behind the door. “Lucas?” She sighs when she realises it is him and attempts to slam the door into his face, “Don’t you know it is taboo to see the bride just before the wedding?”

Lucas chuckles casually, one hand against the door and another in his pocket, a sheepish smile on his face after he stops chuckling, “I’m not superstitious, Victoria,” He receives a disapproving look in return but smiles when he hears laughter coming from inside the room. The laughter is then followed curtly with a gentle shout, “Let him in, Victoria,” and Lucas cannot help but grin triumphantly.

Victoria remains sceptical but allows him in eventually; after all, the bride has already consented. When Lucas walks in, he is greeted with the crisp and feminine fragrant of the flower bouquets, as well as a face beaming at him serenely. He is at a loss for words, his breath completely and utterly taken by the stunning figure in front of him. “Well, how do I look?” The bride asks as a tinge of pink creeps onto her cheeks.

It takes him a few seconds to register the question asked, and when it finally sinks into his mind, Lucas takes a step forward, and then another. His eyes never leave her as he takes the final step, leaving only a slight gap in between them. He reaches out a hand and tucks a strand of loose hair behind her ear, still smiling as he answers, “Beautiful. As always.”

Sharon blushes upon hearing those words, as her hand gently caressed her dress so as to distract herself from turning a tomato red. She scrunches her nose a moment later and says, “Wedding dresses are supposed to be calm and assuring, so why is it making me feel so uncomfortable? Can I sue the shop?”

Lucas laughs and amused at the idea of them sharing the same opinion, “You’re just nervous. A married life after this, who wouldn’t be?”

She throws a smile at his direction and he could feel his heart skipping two beats at once. The effect of her smile on him has never failed to amaze him. He has known her for years, yet his heart still does somersaults whenever she smiles at him.

She is that beautiful. And he is that in love with her.

“But I’m marrying my best friend, so I shouldn’t be nervous, right?” She asks so innocently that Lucas feels like pulling her into a bear hug and never letting her go.

But he is already breaking a rule by being here before the ceremony. He cannot possibly break another rule, can he?

“It’s normal to be nervous, Sharon. It is absolutely normal.”

He assures her and sees her breathing in and out slowly before a smile reappears on her lips again. He has this sudden urge to just kiss her, but no, that would be breaking another rule, and that simply will not do.

“Ian is the luckiest guy on planet Earth, are you aware of that?” Lucas says softly, just loud enough for Sharon to hear him. She beams at him in return and he struggles (again) to breathe properly, “You’re very sweet, Luke.”

Lucas keeps mum and beams back at the smiling bride. He presses himself (and his heart) to remain calm and reasonable. Lucas knows he has to remain happy for his two best friends — for it is only after overcoming many obstacles and challenges that they are finally proceeding forward to create many new and fond memories together, all of which, Lucas is aware, do not include him in the picture.

“So…” Sharon interrupts the silence suddenly with a smile Lucas cannot exactly comprehend, “This is our last chance to run away together,” she announces jokingly and Lucas laughs again.

He has half a mind to take what she has just said seriously but he does not tell her that, “I’m really happy for you, Sharon. For the both of you.”

He leaves the bride with her maid of honour moments later. Lucas turns around to stare (one last time) at the closed double doors, and concludes that it is indeed a new chapter in his life.

It is the chapter where he lets go.

Cheers, thanks for reading!

Emo night

This is one of the nights where all I want to do is to put aside books and just sleep in hope that tomorrow would arrive sooner and things would get better. I wish people would stop expecting so much from me. Wouldn't it be nicer to be surprised than to be disappointed?

I'm back! Sort of...

Wow. It's been, what, almost two years since I last blogged.
I'm not sure why I'm here again, to be quite honest; was I really that bored that I'm actually blogging again?

Quick recap! I've completed High School and SPM, to those who have been following, you should know how nervous I was with the mere mention of SPM--and there you have it, I've completed it and moving on with Pre-U aka STPM.
Did I mentioned before how SPM gave me such a stressful life?
Because if I have, you should totally be informed that STPM is x100 times worst than that.
For those who might be wondering, STPM has been changed to semester based instead of the usual system whereby students would sit for the exam at the end of their Upper Six. Nope, the new STPM system lets students to sit for three exams, each after 6 months, therefore STPM has now split to three semesters--all with equal weightage.

Does it help? I don't know.
Does it lessen your syllabus studying? Maybe.
Does it help in reducing your stress? Definitely not.

So anyway, I'm currently studying in Penang Free School.
Some of you might have heard it before since it was pretty prestigious years back.
Can't say the same about now, though. /inserts evil laughter/
I think I like it here. It might be stressful and lonely at some point cause I'm actually staying in a rented room and away from family (long story, too lazy to explain) but I've met some really cool friends and awesome seniors who, personally, managed to turn my negativity around and made me enjoy my weekdays! (Well, you know who you peeps are ;) )

I've also joined the Board of Prefects, mainly because my brother asked me to since he was an Old Free and in the board too. I was slightly hesitant at first; afraid that I wouldn't be able to manage my time properly, and somewhat nervous to deal with boys since I was from a Convent school.
BUT. I'm definitely not regretting my decision to join the Board.
I love everyone in the board so much, all of them are just wonderful and hilarious and just plain awesome!
Though, I'm kinda having troubles whenever I need to deal with the students cause I'm actually a rather timid and shy person. I hope I'll be able to toughen up and be able to deal with them with confidence soon!

So my first blogpost after two years is about a short update on my life.
Can't believe I'm actually typing this as you read. I was trying to study actually, but I guess I was distracted. (Well, figures.)

p/s: It's 30th of August! Happy Birthday to my favorite Hong Kong actress; Tavia Yeung Yi! (Oh the irony, I wrote a blogpost wishing her birthday two years back too haha) Stay awesome and stay healthy!

Till the next blogpost!
